Good grief. We are doomed.https://twitter.com/apeirophobic/status/949782141495209984 …
We think not but also that 'centrism' is meaningless.https://areomagazine.com/2017/08/22/a-manifesto-against-the-enemies-of-modernity/ …

This article is almost at the level of parody in its depressing ignorance of political theory, the impacts of varying political ideologies, and the actual history of what has brought "modernity."
-
Most people do not support centrism. Most people want the rich to be taxed more, for corporations to be regulated, for the minimum wage to be raised, for healthcare to be nationalized, for marijuana to be legalized, etc... These are leftist propositions.
-
Centrism is not responsible for modernity. The expansion of a regulatory state which provides a safety net and reins in the excesses of labor exploitation by powerful corporations is. The further we go in that direction, as evidenced by Scandinavia, the further we modernize.
-
You clearly didn't read it. We argue against centrism and for the expansion of a regulatory state which provides a safety net & reigns in the excesses of labour exploitation by powerful corporations. Go away if you won't engage honestly.
-
Helen, you have literally not engaged honestly with me a single time I have ever interacted with you. I provide you extensive rebuttals and you just whine about it. You misdefine terms constantly and I correct them for you and you just ignore it.
-
Centrism is a contradiction that is eternally doomed to devolve in one direction or the other, and when the political forces of a society are set up such that capitalists may amass wealth, centrism devolves into either fascism, as evidenced by the western world, or a failed state
-
Centrism is predicated upon not fully understanding political theory. It skims the arguments of the left and the right uncritically, accepting whatever of those seems to work currently, instead of inspecting -why- things work or what motivates different policy positions.
-
This essentially makes centrism a milquetoast sort of conservatism. A vessel in which power structures may transplant any ideology which bolsters their structure, much like the postmodernism you claim to despise. It is a non-position, masquerading as reasonable.
