We really only need only acknowledge that our understanding is almost certainly limited & our knowledge always provisional. I don't understand people who prefer to remain mired in this lack of perfection rather than doing the best we can with what we've got which is working well.https://twitter.com/andrevanes/status/948288887704772608 …

I think this comes down to personality types. People who find awe and wonder in the ultimate unknowability of everything and people who say 'fuck that' and develop medicines and technology and find out how our bodies work & what the universe is made of.

Obviously these are the extremes but I think we all have a tendency one way or the other. I do not find science very interesting but I like to see how ideologies and value systems work, take them apart and see what they're made of which I think is a similar psychology.

I want to know what is true but often on a social level. Why are people saying this? How are they thinking? How did they get here? What do they want on a fundamental level? I get very frustrated with people who'd like us to remain in a fog here.

because they don't have to - really think about the points in your life that shaped you - these are always extremes... if you sit at home and "know how the world works", nothing extreme will ever happen and you never wake up from your "I know it all" state...
