You think this appeals to the average person? Also, sentences like: Metamodernism shall be defined as the mercurial condition between & beyond irony & sincerity, naivety & knowingness, relativism & truth, optimism & doubt, in pursuit of a plurality of disparate& elusive horizons

I'm not sure I understand? The manifesto is explicitly written in an obtuse, over-the-top style of early modernist manifestos (so appeal is obviously specific!), though at the same time speaks of an absolute sincerity in every word for movement beyond its state.

Replying to @Luke_Turner @HPluckrose and
I see metamodernism as a way of setting out a view of the world in the present; the contemporary cultural moment, to offer clarity. We're all already metamodern—that's the point—so it's not a case of appealing to people. Of course, there's many different ways of articulating this

I don't see the clarity. I don't think we are already metamodern. I think we're seeing much retreat into ideological tribes with their own narratives and a disregard for cultural truth. The contemporary cultural moment is post-truth and I do want to appeal to people to address it

I'm curious what you mean by "cultural truth"—will give your essay a read now :) This return to ideologies, following a post-ideological era, is a sign of metamodernism imo. In many cases, a disturbing one at that, no doubt!

That should be 'objective truth.'
