Someone made this which is nice. It was the Critical Thinkers Facebook page and comes from my contribution to the Quillette piece 'Are Women Really Victims?'pic.twitter.com/MUG3vqELvM

It isn't just women. Victim culture can manifest within any group. Analyzing the underlying motivations that drive people to pursue victim status is long overdue. The even scarier task is to analyze the underlying motivations of those who encourage groups to pursue victim status.

Great piece on hazards of victim culture. “Creating a society in which we are encouraged to confront anxiety & face difficult realities matters not just for the mental health of individuals, but also for our collective well-being” @QuilletteM http://quillette.com/2017/12/27/collision-reality-depth-psychology-can-tell-us-victimhood-culture/ …

Gad Saad made an great point about the similarities between victim status and Munchausen Syndrome. He calls group victim status 'Collective Munchausen'. I would argue that those who encourage groups to claim victim status are afflicted with 'Collective Munchausen by proxy'.

Watch the HBO documentary: "Mommy Dead and Dearest (Warning: it's mind-blowing) Gypsy Blancharde = Collective victim groups. Dee Dee Blancharde = Those who benefit from collective victim groups.

You're in for a treat. That documentary rocked me to my core. No spoilers, but it's not just about Munchausen by proxy syndrome, but female nature and sexuality. The whole story is mind-blowing from end to end.

This is right. Dealing with people according to some preordained idea of their class characteristics may at times be a usefeul heuristic, but is utterly useless for complex personal assessment.

A strong criticism or a silly tasteless joke can make a woman a victim? That sounds a little thin-skinned to me, buddy.

and yet some of us seem to be content to be seen as victims & to try to have laws enacted to enshrine that victimhood.I have never seen myself as a victim no matter what adverse thing comes my way as I refuse to give my power to anyone
