Am I the only one who finds this ridiculous reasoning? Most things that are worthwhile aspiring towards are difficult or practically impossible. People gotta buck up and learn a little humility and work ethic.https://twitter.com/HPluckrose/status/945853033338101760 …

It needs to be not only possible not to be racist or sexist but relatively easy. If it is difficult or impossible for a man not to be sexist or a white person not to be racist, very many will stop trying.

This comes from the assumption that people really are being racist and sexist rather than that the rules keep changing and are made difficult or impossible to comply with. Eg:https://twitter.com/HPluckrose/status/945852545175576577 …

We had that ludicrous situation where in the same week someone proposed that everyone make an effort to cite more WoC in academic papers and someone else called it appropriation when a white woman quoted Beyoncé admiringly.

I think my point still stands. It will not, nor will it ever be easy. Stay humble and willing to learn. What may seem like contradictions today may be common sense tomorrow. Stay patient. It certainly has not been easy for victims of racism/sexism.

No, honestly, it's fine. I'll continue not judging people by race or gender or sexuality & criticising those who do. I'm not going to try to quote women of colour and not quote them at the same time. I'll just quote them when they say something worth quoting.

Yes, exactly. The vast majority of people support gender equality but we tend to focus on the misogynist and misandrist minority and pick a side.
