It really is very easy not to be racist or sexist. You just have to not judge people by race or sex. If you genuinely find it difficult or impossible not to regard women or people of colour inferior, by all means work hard at it. If you don't, there shouldn't be eggshells.https://twitter.com/dysonsphere/status/945869317316464640 …

Am I the only one who finds this ridiculous reasoning? Most things that are worthwhile aspiring towards are difficult or practically impossible. People gotta buck up and learn a little humility and work ethic. https://twitter.com/HPluckrose/status/945853033338101760 …

Does it really never occur to you that you may, inadvertently, hold predudices and that the human condition is one of constant evaluation and improvement. But if you are perfect and don't feel that you need to work hard to improve yourself, congratulations.

Surely you realise your accusations are very likely to be biased? You might not realise, for example, that you object when people generalise negatively about women but tolerate it much more when they do so about men. Better to work on yourself, not set impossible rules for others

Mindreading saves having to make an argument based on evidence and reason. You can just feel that the other person is biased against your demographic of choice. This is how the same essay can have me labelled both a feminazi and a MRA.

This is at the heart of the matter. The "mindreading" judgement of other people.

Agree with spirit of first sentence. But a) one can hate a group even if one doesn't think they are inferior, just your enemy and b) there are so many different ways to label "others"; e.g. Some "blacks" and "south asians" are prejudiced toward each other.

Not sure how. They'll be your enemy and worthy of hate due to some negative perception.

Negative perceptions include the fear that they will dominate you or are out to destroy you, not that they are inferior.

Well, morally inferior then. But feel free to replace with 'having negative perceptions of' if you feel that covers more of it. It probably does.

It takes work to recognize when you are or aren’t judging someone based on race or gender. It doesn’t come naturally to most people.

Right. Did you feel the need to correct me because I am a woman? Would my opinion have held more weight with you if I were a man? Or do you think you were capable of addressing my opinion in its own right?

I've don't understand the claim that it's hard not to be sexist or racist - as you said, you just don't judge people by race or sex. And then I look at the past history of those making that claim, and realise they're sexist or racist, and they're also projecting.

I actually disagree... it is almost impossible not to pre judge on some characteristic. the question is whether you let it consistently affect your behaviour. Ignoring your prejudices is often the best we can ask
