I suspect this happened here. I disagreed with Charles Murray about something. Therefore, I have been placed in the SJW camp.https://twitter.com/BretWeinstein/status/945014251101417472 …

I'm rediscovering mental-bad-habits people often seem to have. Here's one: It's assumed everyone must be advocating for a known ideology. Whatever argument is made is analyzed only to discover which camp it represents. Then generic responses to that camp's position are deployed.

Charles Murray: Believing the universe happened for no reason is a leap of faith. Me: I'm not sure people do believe 'no reason.' We just don't know what it was. Lunatics; You claim to know God does not exist. Also you're an SJW.

My disbelief in God has absolutely nothing to do with any knowledge claim about the formation of the universe and this is not uncommon among the atheists I am surrounded by. I can't remember the last time we discussed the formation of the universe. XD

I think people in these conversations are using the word “reason” differently. When religious people ask that question, I think they mean reason as in purpose.

Most people called atheists are actually philosophicaly agnostics.

believing anything about the unknown is a leap of faith. it’s only difficult to accept if you have a preferred reason in mind
