Yes. Class privilege is real. That is where my privilege comes from - having parents able to send me to a private school. Economic class does correlate with race/ethnicity to a certain extent but not with gender & not consistently with race. Many of my classmates South Asian https://twitter.com/ineedmoretea/status/944741847502655488 …

Here we are on a class trip to Pompeii where we sang the school song in Latin into a volcano, ffs. None of these girls can complain of a lack of privilege. Class privilege always needs to be taken into account when considering identity privilege.https://twitter.com/HPluckrose/status/928699627578253312 …

More than a few of those claiming oppression and attacking privilege in others are privileged in this respect, but need to recapture a monopoly of virtue. Indian Marxist Aijaz Ahmad argued this re sons/daughters of ruling classes in former colonised countries studying in West.

That sounds very interesting. Can you give a link or two to that sort of work by Aijaz Ahmad?

Here in the U.S. it is mainly money. Money marries money and a wealthy class forms. Which due to tax laws perpetuates for multiple generations

Tbh I see race politics as almost a deflection. Institutional racism/xenophobia/whatever can really be solved if we don't address SES gaps first.
