Yes. Class privilege is real. That is where my privilege comes from - having parents able to send me to a private school. Economic class does correlate with race/ethnicity to a certain extent but not with gender & not consistently with race. Here we are on a class trip to Pompeii where we sang the school song in Latin into a volcano, ffs. None of these girls can complain of a lack of privilege. Class privilege always needs to be taken into account when considering identity privilege.https://twitter.com/HPluckrose/status/928699627578253312 …

I think the way “privilege” is used doesn’t give nearly enough credit to the hard work parents had to contribute. Privilege doesn’t magically appear.

But based on adoption studies class privilege doesn’t have as large an effect as most people think.

As large an effect on what? It won't change intelligence, obviously, but having money is a privilege. It does make your life better.

I just means in terms of life outcomes in general it probably has less effect nowadays than most people think.

Which is why Sanders-like policy (or European social democracy) could help with race (better than identity politics) but not gender. I'll always prefer better schools in ghettos over affermative action.

it's almost as if privilege is something that can only be defined for an individual, not entire groups of people in fell swaths

Long time ago I read Tony Cliff’s “The Class Struggle and Women’s Liberation”. I thought it was beautifully argued. No socialism without women’s liberation. No women’s liberation without socialism

Like u, I dislike bullying SJWs and their race games. But median US household wealth: $111,000 white, $7,100 black. Deep, structural divide.

They’re diff kinds of things. Class is where u fit into econ production ([type of] wkr, manager, owner, …); race, gender, … are permanent individ attribs wh can influence where u end up. ‘Class’ in intersectional sense has 2b made similar to latter (so edu, culture, accent, …)
