Absolutely. And of course the irony of holding forth on toxic masculinity and critiquing the male half of the species constantly and in every facet is lost.

OMG each statement on it's own merits with no reference to the race or gender of the source bodymind? The consistent practice of resolving ambiguity with the most charitable read? I enjoy reading your content. Sad seeing authoritarian schema emerge from "equality"

And the opposite argument is equally plausible, and equally wrong: "You can't comment on masculinity because you're a woman." "You can't comment on masculinity because you're a man, so you don't have an objective viewpoint." It's literally the exact same logic.

If there's no push-back from an outside group, then those with "right to say" will very likely frame things unfairly towards themselves. There's a reason that critical thinking is important, it curbs excesses/biases (even of ppl of marginal IDs), and gets us closer to the truth.

Yikes. I had a totally frustrating conversation on FB a couple of days ago. Same deal--I was apparently unfit to comment bc of my position on feminism, men. "Mansplaining," needs to have its female mirror: "feminist hearing." I've had to contend with that way too often too.

Quite right too. These folks will bring misogyny back into vogue. I can literally hear little mushrooms of misogyny breaking out in the cellar right now. I'm calling it mycogeny.
