Good piece by @CathyYoung63 Yes, it's not that the bullying is nastier when its from far-left loons but that it is harder to brush off because it has public respectability & threatens people's careers and reputations.https://forward.com/opinion/390296/its-time-to-call-out-bullying-by-social-justice-warriors/ …

I find it easy to shrug off the far-right loons telling me I'm fat & ugly & will die childless surrounded by cats but far-left loons saying I oppose women's rights, racial equality, LGBT equality etc are harder to ignore because those things are very important to me.

They know this, of course. They don't bother telling actual sexists, racists, homophobes they are those things because they already know this and think its the right way to be. The accusations have power only if the accused abhors such attitudes & that's what makes it so toxic.

The other problem is that the words then lose power. If I hear someone described as a misogynist now, I'm much more likely to assume he once disagreed with a feminist idea than that he hates women. This matters because we still need to be able to talk about misogyny.

You make well reasoned intellectually honest points. Yet, I'm still kind of afraid to retweet them:)

I'm half joking but yes. the left has become super cynical about motives. The right is as well but I expect the left to be better for some reason. Even though I lean right.

This. Its why my Twitter, news, podcasts, etc are far more of the RIght than the Left, because Leftward critiques caused me to half-believe my own tainted white maleness, and the trauma of every life moment for almost two years feeling like doing evil is still with me.
