Mob outrage in reaction to someone bringing up #ProportionalResponses, degrees of infraction, and #AppropriateConsequences is literally why we have 2017, such as it is.

Well, good for you. I think. Or are you suggesting we should encourage men not to cope with unpleasant behaviour too?

Personally, I'd punch him in the mouth, report him to HR and tell everyone in his circle what he had done.

Seems a bit excessive. I settled for pouring my drink over the man who did it to me and the man I did it to laughed and offered me a drink. I assumed he'd appreciate it but I shouldn't have done. He still would have been wrong to punch me tho.

It may be "unpleasant" to you or me, but far worse to someone else. I don't expect everyone to have my reaction and I respect how others feel about it. Trying to put the onus on women to "toughen up" is essentially victim-blaming.Not everyone has the same level of inner strength

You don't have to do one or the other. You can blame people for boorish behaviour and also encourage those impacted by it to be resilient.
