Hmm. Interesting point. If sexist or gendered stereotypes are banned, will this include bikinis and hijabs. It's all going to get very subjective, isn't it? People taking offence all over the shop.https://twitter.com/GiovanniFanfoni/status/941686141882912769 …
Clothes are gendered and related to roles, yes. Bikinis are to be out, it seems. Seen as sexist because men don't wear them.

I'm referring to the Swedish law in the article. I doubt "stereotypical gender role" includes the wearing of clothes.

You don't think that was what was meant by 'displayed as a mere sex object'? I think the writer did as the picture is of a woman in a bikini. But hijabs are a gender specific modesty code. Gender-specific modesty codes are a gender role.

#advertisements should not depict women or men as "mere sex objects", in a "stereotypical gender role" which is degrading, or in other ways which are "degrading and clearly sexist (/q) so no hijab or bikini ban. -
I don't know why you assume the last bit from the first.

I can imagine ads featuring women in such clothes that meet none of those criteria. Some ads may fall foul of them, but most certainly wouldn't.

Article seems to say that "stereotypical gender roles" have to be "degrading" in order to fall foul of the law
-
If the burden of proof is on those who assert something IS degrading, law will create red tape but have no other practical effect
