The rejection of moral absolutism is extremely important because in every social conflict no side is never 100% morally pure, so if all acts are equal all that matters is tribal allegiance. Instead evaluating conflict requires nuance.

It's impossible to completely transcend tribalism but it is possible to create compromises based on mutual usefulness, third party institutions, and rejecting moral absolutism ("X is bad, Y is bad, so X is just as bad as Y" but applying a scale of contextual morality.
