An important realisation I have come to in the last six months is that postmodernists are less sophisticated in their thinking than me and not more.

After having spent a few months trying this more directly with academics strongly influenced by postmodernism, I find this is not the case at all.

It is they who are simplistic and binary even whilst they complain of everyone else being simplistic and binary. They have a very naive view of science & reason and a simplistic ideological take on the world which they just explore in unnecessarily convoluted theoretical language

What is complicated, sophisticated and difficult to get right is science and reason because there is so much provisionality and so much fallibilism to take into account and try to mitigate.

You don't have to do that with postmodernism. Much simpler. If objective reality doesn't exist and subjective truths do & you can decide which to foreground based on past or even present marginalisation, there's no need for epistemic humility or testing or verifying or scepticism

Sometimes an overcomplicated mess of nonsense is just an overcomplicated mess of nonsense

Yeah, it's wrong. They start from ideology and do mental gymnastics from the conclusion that they wish to draw. Eg, unreliable, inconsistent, backwards process.
