We don't have to dismiss democracy to think the outcome of any democratic vote was a bad one. Sometimes the majority is wrong. This doesn't invalidate the system. It just means we need, as ever, to work on being less wrong as a society.https://twitter.com/WinterfellT/status/938434870451118080 …

Ok I'll have a go. 1) People. It was people who voted in the ballot box last year. Let's not dismiss democracy when we don't get the result we wanted. Democracy is good for people. We're the only member to actually have a vote on continued membership.

      1) How do you decide whether leaving a political federal union is wrong or not? And how you maintain faith in democracy when the PM + 9 million UK Gov leaflets said if you vote leave we leave.

      2) If we judge Brexit short term based on how difficult Brussels make the negotiations we are only doubling down on Leave voters concerns about the EU. That combined with denying their vote is a really toxic mix.

Let's judge it longterm. Is anyone denying their vote?

So the long term question isn't about stopping Brexit it's about re joining.

I'm talking about the longterm effects of leaving the EU. That is how we'll be able to judge definitely whether Brexit was a good idea.

So we're agreed then. We are leaving the EU and in the future we decide whether or not to rejoin?

It looks like it. Unless something radically changes and a majority of people want a second vote or something.

Brexit is a principle, to increase democracy. There are no guaranteed results, it depends entirely on how much the spirit of democracy is adhered to (not much going on right now).
