We don't have to dismiss democracy to think the outcome of any democratic vote was a bad one. Sometimes the majority is wrong. This doesn't invalidate the system. It just means we need, as ever, to work on being less wrong as a society.https://twitter.com/WinterfellT/status/938434870451118080 …

Ok I'll have a go. 1) People. It was people who voted in the ballot box last year. Let's not dismiss democracy when we don't get the result we wanted. Democracy is good for people. We're the only member to actually have a vote on continued membership.

Respect for democracy is the reason we can't overturn a decision reached democratically. It's not evidence the decision was a good one. A failure to agree it was a good one in no way indicates a disrespect for democracy.

It could indicate a disrespect for the judgement of a large proportion of your fellow citizens tho.

        1) How do you decide whether leaving a political federal union is wrong or not? And how you maintain faith in democracy when the PM + 9 million UK Gov leaflets said if you vote leave we leave.

There are many factors to tale into consideration and few people had either the time or the qualifications to weigh them. I'm not sure what the second question means.

That's because some of the reasons for Brexit are quite simple. Voting for people who make your laws and act as your President and giving consent to be in a political union. 2nd point: the PM said: if you vote Leave we leave plus 9million leaflets. That must surely be upheld?

I know they are and that's the problem. The reasons are simple - big emotive themes - whilst the facts about how membership actually impacts our lives & economy are complex & require a great deal of knowledge to properly evaluate. Yes, we have to go through with it.

Be nice if Remain admitted they were wrong about Brexit, though. In this case, democracy got it right.

I'll admit this if things get better for the UK when we're out. At the moment, that seems unlikely.

Absolutely! Good decisions from a democratic society mean the culture is healthy. In non-democratic ones, it just means the leaders made a good decision
