Yes! 'Parents are lovely in small doses' seems to be the view of most kids, in my experience. The conservative view that kids are sad and lonely if they have the house to themselves for a couple of hours appears to be mostly a myth.https://twitter.com/millenialhermit/status/938024976086691840 …

you realize that your own experience is just that, correct? personally, the one year my mother was a stay-at-home mom was hell for me because the boredom drove her crazy. and i never once felt neglected when she was working.

I question the term 'conservative', however. Whether socially or politically leaning to either side, all parents are susceptible to this false concept. Free range child rearing poses a dangerous risk - a visit from CPS.

Fears of it, yes, but I am talking about the ideological position that women need to be in the home.

I see your intent, and can agree to a point. Conservative women may base the decision on conservative beliefs. But, all women base it on circumstance, personal pref, income imbalance. My friends, religious or not, did what allowed high parental presence.

I'm so old, I remember when kids went outside. In that scenario what difference does it make who's in the house?

My parents having to spend a weekend out of town and not able to take me was the greatest thing when I was a kid.

My mum was at home but she's more of a 'get out from under my feet' type than a helicopter parent. 😅
