I don't think it's typical at all. I think tradlifers are a minority and the vast majority of women have purpose & identity separate from their children. When they don't, I think it would be very hard not for this to be harmful.

Then they're not seeing their kids as a full-time job and their raison d'etre which is what I was criticising. They have other things in their lives and let their kids have other things in their lives.

There are acceptable forms. They;'re allowed to enjoy cooking and needlework and going to church social events & things. Its having jobs & intellectual interests/professional pursuits that are forbidden. The bloke I was talking to was objecting to women being politically active.

Excellent. Today I am mostly reacting to tradlifers trying to limit women with counterviews & my own introverted, individualistic, not-very-maternal perspective. Ultimately, I defend everyone's right to their own choice.
