Of course, it is different if she is at home but has her own interests and isn't reliant solely on her children to supply her with a purpose and an identity. I'm not sure this allowed with the extreme tradlifers. In principle, anyway.

I'm not suggesting that every parent, male and female, needs to work to be fulfilled. I am suggesting they nearly all need something more than children. I don't think 'my children are my life' is healthy especially given that they grow up & move out. Remain a whole person.

I'm not a fan of helicopter parenting. I think the best way to raise children is to remain a full person & let them see that. They must know they come first but also that their mothers are people with personalities & interests. It helps them to have them too.

Balance is needed. Its not good for kids if they seldom see their parents coz they work such long hours but it's not good to always have one of them on top of them either. They need their own lives and peers & so do the parents.
