Strange relationship to a mother if one feels it is a burden, actually, strange that a mother would make their kids feel like that. Is it common?

It evidently is unhealthy if a kid thinks the well being of their parents is dependent on the kids engaging with the parents.

Well, yes. My mother was an extrovert and I an introvert. It was awful when she didn't have a job. Waiting for me to get in to have someone to talk to and I just wanted to some down time to recharge. She got depressed & I got anxious. Much better when she got a job when I was 12
