I am badly hungover today. I don't seem to be able to tolerate alcohol any more. Perhaps because I've not been drinking it regularly.

What did you drink? I ask because as I’ve gotten older, I’ve had to narrow my choices in alcohol consumption. Many things make me feel terrible, while a few have no effect on me at all.

I only really enjoy wine. On a hot day, beer.

See that’s one of the things I can’t really drink anymore. White wine slightly tolerable if I only have a small amount. Red wine is the devil. And I like red wine best, but I can’t drink it anymore. I can drink dark beer with no problem, good tequila with no problem. Whiskey NO.

Your mistake was to stop drinking. The most effective way to avoid hangovers is to stay drunk. 🤪👍

One Saturday morning about four years ago, I woke up so sick I thought I had the flu. Turned out I had a hangover from 2 pints. 2 sodding pints. Welcome to the club!

I can't drink more than 3 without getting sick. Also if you are doing low-carb diet type stuff your tolerance will go way down and you will get sick easily.

Yes, to keep up immunities to mild poisons you have to take regular doses.

Correct. A hangover is the first symptom of withdrawal. Our bodies crave homeostasis and yours is calling out for alcohol.

Eh, alcohol is 7 kcal/gram (second only to fat's 9 kcal/gram), so it's best to keep it sparing in your diet, no matter who you are.
