There is no such thing as “postmodernist” orthodoxy. Dr Dawkins - are you sure you’re actually familiar with Postmodernism ?

Yes, there is. Please see this thread about the evolution of postmodern ideas through critical theory, left-wing politics & social justice activism.https://twitter.com/hpluckrose/status/935389669046603776 …

Helen Pluckrose @HPluckroseBut this thread is an excellent illustration for what I have been saying about people talking past each other on the subject of postmodernism because of definitions and misunderstandings of the term & what is being criticised. I feel the need for a thread of my own. https://twitter.com/AaronRHanlon/status/935155939816235009 …Show this thread2 replies 0 retweets 0 likes -
And your lazy conflation is just the sort of nonsense I’m talking about.

I'm not conflating anything. I'm saying what we mean by postmodernism - those ideas about objective truth, social construction by discourse, power structures which evolved through critical theory, activism and politics.

Replying to @HPluckrose @Soulphood and
You can point out that postmodernism is a much bigger thing than that and you'd be right. You can even argue that because of this, we should find a different word but I'm not here to argue semantics. Here to address these particular problems which stemmed from postmodernism.

Except there’s no evidence (that I’ve seen) of any such causation - do share your evidence of causation. Thanks.

Causation of what? Do you want current critical theorists using postmodernist thought? Or current SocJus using current critical theory? You're not aware of Kimberlé Crenshaw drawing on PoMo & SocJus drawing on intersectionality & Critical Race Theory? Or Butler? Said?

I assume you understand what “evidence of causation” means. I see lots of examples of correlation - show causative links from, say, Lacan all the way to someone claiming “non-binary gender” status.

However, neuroscience and genetics also shows an intermediary position re grey and white brain matter and alleles for people who identify as trans.

So perhaps we might infer that in a society which is more accepting of “trans brains” then more are willing to be open about their attributes?
