That isn't what I said, is it? I said that they make people feel a justifiable need to defend Muslims as a marginalised group facing prejudice and from there refuse to acknowledge the problems within Islam which we really need to be doing.

If 'hurty words' made the problem better rather than worse, it could be worth it but it doesn't. It just makes more people confuse much-needed criticism of Islam with anti-Muslim bigotry and racism.
