Yes, exactly, and perhaps this is why Americans see more of Marxism in it than I do. Also the American right is more paranoid about communism than UK right anyway.https://twitter.com/AcadFreedom/status/935541413583912963 …

It was only their American disciples on campus that (re-)fused this literary subversion with politics more heavily. After all Foucault and Lyotard had dismissed Marxism as a "grand narrative" and therefore thoroughly pre-postmodern.

I see the Marxism in it not from professors, but more from the protesters. People (esp among right) see these guys and want to make the connection to pomo. But its not a direct, communism exists as a force outside of pomo. For instance, these are protesters in my city, Austin.pic.twitter.com/d3Gge8rDRW

But is there Marxism there? What are their economic policies to benefit the working class & control the means of production? Aren't they mostly middle -class kids going on about identity politics?

Yes they are. I know three and they are all white, middle class, and haven't gone to college. The one I've talked to about it seemed marxist, but also ridiculous, so its hard to tell. I don't think they're directly influenced by pomo academia, except maybe intersectionality.

I guess what I'm trying to say is I think there is some real marxism in there, but they didn't learn it in college. They may learn ideas from pomo that go hand in hand, esp the power dynamics stuff, and I think it may empower or embolden them to do what they do...

I don't see the Marxism but if you find people are prioritising class issues over race & gender etc, there is Marxism.

Here is a long post if you want to read, it seems properly Marxist but there is def intersectional influence: https://www.facebook.com/RSFAustin/posts/913165472122101 …

Or for short: "We are a proletarian feminist, anti-racist, pro-trans, pro-queer, and anti-ableist organization. Systems of oppression such as patriarchy, white supremacy, and ableism are pillars that uphold capitalism; they cannot be destroyed until capitalism is destroyed"

I don't see why there can't be both... I think it gets kind of mixed up in these guys where they feel the need to smash the ill-defined capitalo-white supremacist-cisnormative-hetero-patriarchal boogeyman. I do infer much from the hammer and sickle as a symbol of class struggle.
