That's the main problem, CritTheory Studies take important insights, tends to reify them as absolutes in almost conspiracy theory form (capitalism/patriarchy/white supremacy) that when filtered through activist networks become a counter productive dumb down dogmatic sledgehammer.

If you don't think so, you haven't frequented activist circles. I present to you, this week in Brazil, Black Conscience activis groups - "race mixing is genocide". it's not a fringe group either, that's a share from PT, one of the main political forces in Brazil.pic.twitter.com/WOfZziukAS

Somehow, this phenomenon gets even worse outside US, where the narratives get filtered again from US sources, losing even more nuance. Brazil is a perfect example, as
@EliVieira can testify, with his tribulations with the "adventures in social justice" media accounts. -
and Brazil has serious problems with misogyny, racism and inequality, DumbWoke FakeSocJus, actually slows down progress, creates unnecessary backlash to a change that is already hard to do, and slow, that's my problem with it.

This is the impression I get.

I don't think critical theory flaws into a postmodernist definition even if influence by postmodernist thought. Reinterpreting things in our society once thought true isn't ignoring facts. It's debunking old ones and making new ones.

"Intersectionality" Claiming that multiple parts of your identity can impact your treatment by society. That you're black AND female changes how you are treated. That's just a fact. Nothing about that needs to be based in postmodernism.

It doesn't, no. It could be done well. But, in practice, it does come down to postmodern systems of privilege and identity & eschews individuality & shared humanity for group identity which constrains and limits people. Me, on this:https://areomagazine.com/2017/02/15/the-problem-with-intersectional-feminism/ …

there's plenty of sources to link academia directly, as the origin of this stuff. Working on important subjects shouldn't have to build in bad methodology. these recommendations turn research into to activism, obvious result is discount opposing evidence:https://twitter.com/phl43/status/933739350059298816 …
