Hmm. We know that the mass of a spring is 0.25kg & the spring constant is 1 kN/m but we're being asked to factor in the extension and don't know what that means?
I have no idea what is going on. I think Lucy knows what she doesn't know but she's shit at explaining it to me! If that problem comes up in the test, she's just going to have to leave it.

I don't know. Pack her off to physics camp over Christmas, and then cancel Christmas and tell her it's Newton's birthday instead. Chain her to a desk with nothing but the Feynman lectures.

Dimensional analysis is a cool trick where you take your givens and calculate other necessary values out of them. Like turning distance (m) and time (s) into velocity (m/s)! Tons of physics problems require it.
