No, that is a great thing. But how dare anyone judge others experiences and tell them how to feel or react. For various reasons, not everyone is able to do what you did.

Possibly...if you are a trained counselor & know the situation. But a journalist, with zero grasp of the situation and nothing that qualifies her to have an opinion on the matter? No. Painting a group of people with such a broad stroke is irresponsible and insensitive. At best.
