I am willing to proven wrong about this but it seems both counterintuitive & illogical to think that identifying racial & gender biases everywhere is likely to make people overcome racial & gender biases.

Yes, this is absolutely true and measurable. Explicit bias has been decreasing since the 60’s as women and minorities have gained access to education and job places. Childhood diversity education has been the most effective, but workplace training sets explicit expectations.

Which bias is in question here? Implicit bias? Because there are major critiques of the way that bias is measured.

Major critiques is a nice way to put it. More unforgiving types say it’s got sweet FA in the way of substantive evidence and belongs with the rest of the “sounds like it could be something but isn’t” crap.
