Gee, with centuries of tea making one would think all the Brits would be able to make a proper cuppa tea.

Well, I think this is why London does badly. Few Brits! Particularly working in cafes!

Tho what you gain on tea further north, you lose on coffee. Most coffee in Nottingham tastes like stewed instant Nescafe. Although it isn't.

That's fine.

@sarahcNG1 I've had lovely tea in London, though it was the mid 1970s. Fast food places can't do tea at all. -
Agree. Costa and all the chains are awful. I work near one of the last of the great caffs-Gino's in Marylebone. It's a lifesaver!
-
Costa is owned by a Pub chain. The coffee gets cold quickly due to shape of cups. Is it to get the tables cleared? I've had better coffee than Costa or Starbucks serve. In two of my book series I imagine Franchises and Chains are illegal!

I'm so ashamed. This is true. I ask for tea and get asked 'what kind?' and then get something weak & lukewarm. This doesn't happen if you go up north.
