:( You're not being very reasonable here, James, which is disappointing because you usually are.

Then show how? Make an ethical argument for medically unnecessary genital surgery on babies which is not 'widely accepted custom.'

It's legal, between one quarter and a third of parents world wide do it, there's nothing wrong with it. 'Intactivists' are all loons.

That's not an ethical argument. It can apply to many things we once found acceptable and normal and now don't. Beating children (or wives) with sticks comes to mind.

You think that two billion parents worldwide are abusing their children? I mean, really? If I thought that I would give up my job and spend the rest of my life campaigning against it.

Yes. Probably more. Some people do. It depends which battles you want to fight tho. It's one of many human rights issues for me.

When I look at the world, I see billions of parents selflessly and lovingly raising their children - is there a more altruistic act? I guess maybe a tiny percentage of that sum are cruel

I don't think they do it to be cruel. They love their kids very much. They usually think its what God wants or its a cultural custom they don't question. We've overcome many such unintended abuses tho.
