I can see that your words are not part of a wider system of oppression, but they are prejudice all the same
Do you not think the right to genital integrity counts? Or the longer prison sentences for same crime? Violent & sexual crime against women being taken much more seriously?

Men commit a lot more crimes, which is why they tend to get higher sentences.
-
Imprisonment is a pretty crude instrument in all cases, but the record would appear to be that men are imprisoned more because they are more willing to break the law. Can’t really comment on specific sentencing.
-
The records show that men are imprisoned for longer for the same crime. I'm not sure how it is assessed from that that they are more willing to break the law. They have broken it to the same degree as the women who get lesser sentences.

Helen is right. However, disparity begs question: why? My understanding (admittedly based on ad hoc observation, not scientific inquiry) is it's due to pervasive stereotypes abt women. Judges (& gen pop) generally inclined to view women as less culpable for bad behavior than men.
-
Greater inclination to make/give weight to mitigating excuses for women than for men. Greater difficulty accepting that a woman intentionally inflicted serious physical violence or sexual abuse on another person, especially a child becs, it's contra view of women as nurturers
-
Some women hv been abused into criminal activity. But others who've made own choices can claim they were led astray, & w much more success than men. Infantilizing stereotypes are pernicious, unhelpful overall, but in criminal defense context, tend to cut in women's favor
