That's not establishing a causal effect, though. It's not like marriage is randomly assigned, there is some pretty sever selection bias, so the differences in outcomes can't reliably be attributed to single parenthood.

It does seem unlikely that if all the separate parents currently doing badly raising kids were forcibly married and planted in the same house, that their parenting would improve.

When one is told that something they enjoy and are emotionally attached to (promiscuous/extramarital sex) they often respond devoid of reasoning ability (and like Tweets devoid of reasoning). I'll chalk it up to that.

It's not that their parenting skills would improve, it's that expressing love and long-term commitment to the mother/father of your child increases family stability, something which is immeasurably important to children. /2

Forcibly marrying them wouldn't necessarily do that, but that because it's a stupid, theoretical red herring and strawman you threw out there. /3

Marriage (by choice) does express love and long-term commitment and increase family stability. Did I say the benefits were immeasurable? My mistake. They're very measurable. /4

7% of black children growing up in a two-parent household live in poverty while 22% of white children in single-parent households live in poverty. Single parent doesn't always mean unmarried, but the point stands. Marriage matters. Two-parent privilege dwarves any other. 5/5

Likely a correlation rather than a causation tho obviously a home with two earners will be less likely to be poor than a home with one.

A faulty understanding of family economics, but it's not just poverty. It's educational achievement, incarceration rates, physical health, mental health, relationships, everything.

But it is unclear that this is causation rather than that lasting marriage is a symptom of a personality type which also has other benefits.

eg, are people who have long-term marriages more likely to also commit to other things & have agreeable personalities which also benefits work and parenting?

And it is unclear that sexual freedom prevents people from getting married anyway. Just means they don't have to remain celibate until they are ready to do that.
