This is why I prefer the ethos of science. It also emphasises doubt and limitations and fallibility but is optimistic & productive. Philosophy is the queen and mother of the Sciences. The empirical method is a system based on a particular school of thought within the field of epistemology, which is a branch of philosophy. Empiricism is that school of thought which asserts of that justification for knowledge
