This. Also find it odd when ppl call sex work 'selling herself'. That is not where the self is. More just to say of ppl who sell their mindshttps://twitter.com/drsprankle/status/722307392663199744 …

Selling the works of your body or mind is different than allowing somebody to use your body for money.
-
But what is the difference between 'the works of your body' and 'allowing people to use your body'?
-
Invasion of personal space?
-
But what is invading it? The individual decides what their personal space is.
-
Another person is invading. Personal space does differ but touching is inside the boundary.
-
Invading means not invited. Lots of jobs require you to touch things. Some require you to touch people. I was a care worker & nurse for several years. I had to stick things in uthethras & up rectums.
-
There is a difference between being paid to intrude on the personal space of others and being paid to let others intrude on yours.
-
That doesn't make sense. It's OK if a prostitute touches a client sexually but not if he touches her sexually? Who says this?

Maybe the point at which you "sell your self" is a factor in every profession. I've done a few contracting jobs where I felt I had accidentally exposed my truest self to someone who only wanted a commercial exchange. It's not a nice feeling and I'm more careful now.
-
I'm a film editor. Commercials mostly. Here in the states it's an industry that takes itself quite seriously. They ALWAYS want out true selves. The expect it. It's exhausting.
-
Part of my career trajectory has (for better or probably worse) been shaped by avoiding opportunities & organizations that require the expression of profound buy-in on any subject other than being competent in my role. It definitely has limitations
