Hmm. What do we think of this? I'm inclined to think identifying postmodern content in university courses is not an unethical thing to do. Could be very useful.http://www.cbc.ca/radio/asithappens/as-it-happens-friday-edition-1.4396970/u-of-t-profs-alarmed-by-jordan-peterson-s-plan-to-target-classes-he-calls-indoctrination-cults-1.4396974 …

there's a diff between cautionary warning & critique of poor epistemology & calling academics evil people with sinister motivations while foaming at the mouth, he's the wrong person to deliver this, & yes, it will lead to harassment. See some of his followers behavior on twitter.

ps: no problem with clear, objective statement of contents, like fire does for free speech codes. it's useful for students.

Stupid. Please define POMO. What isn’t to naive rationalist taste I’m thinking.
-
It’s rationalist god-botherers like Jordan Peterson and Gad Saad who need the trigger warnings
-
JP is not a rationalist. He doesn't believe in objective truth.
-
Disagree. He thinks Sky Fairy is objectively true.
-
Show me? He might do but his epistemology is explicitly against this. First two from Maps of Meaning.pic.twitter.com/o2dWnBPYIv

Interesting. A@d his reference to knowledge as it were as “what is useful” (to survive in an environment) isn’t all that diff from Rorty.

Is it really necessary? I think we all know the phony courses. I've told my kids they pay for any course with the word "studies" in it.
-
I didn't know with either of mine.
-
If Mr. Peterson had informed you, would you have made a different decision?
-
If there was a reputable measure that rated courses on epistemological and ideological content, I would make use of it, yes. Find one which allowed me to use science and unorthodox views in my work.

I can’t see any basic problem with making the content of a course clear to the public, and let them choose or avoid as a result. To object seems to be admitting a desire to “slip” content in under the radar.
-
The left seem happy to identify content they consider “problematic” in courses. Seems hypocritical to object when the other side does the same.

He's been pretty neutral about how folks might use the website (although he did also make that 75% comment).

I mean Sam Harris couldn't even get him to admit there were facts or truth separate from their out come. He's a total postmodernist.

This seems to treat postmodernism as a more discrete thing than it is. How do we separate postmodernism from other critical philosophies?
