Structure of some kind to reign in potential offenders. Or let's say to guard against lapses in socialization. Obviously threat of jail 4/
Yes, exactly. How much more can we as a society deplore sex crime tho? It has one of the longest sentences, its own special register, those convicted have to be separated from other violent offenders for their own safety & even an accusation can ruin a life.

I think we're saying same thing - we CAN'T deplore it more, so if it's still happening then just deploring is not enough. We need to talk 1/

Abt social fabric conducive to abusers. Peterson, Shapiro etc. are right abt this - just wrong, IMO, that trad marriage would fix things 2/

We need, esp. in US, a return to some sort of community organization b/w family & state level, to hold ppl accountable day to day.
-
In what way are they not being held accountable?
-
In none of these stories were abusers stopped or slowed by anyone around them - consequences came only years later when public found out
-
Yes. They were protected by powerful institutions. I'm not sure this translates more widely when that power structure isn't there.
-
I agree. But the structure is there - powerful institutions, gov'ts, corporations, etc. are an inescapable part of our social networks.
-
Yes. Maybe we don't disagree. You're just meaning to tackle the problems in society where abusers can hide, not suggesting society as a whole needs monitoring. Or the male half of it, anyway.
