This is counterintuitive. Natural to think, 'If I can only make you feel how I do, you'll prioritise helping me.' Instead, it could cause avoidance. I suspect they'd say that people should battle that. In fact, they do say living with the discomfort is virtuous.

Yes, it's no wonder you so often read/hear activists: "I'm tired...", "I just can't..." & "I can't even..." etc. Using their energy wastefully.
I wonder if (excess) empathy is what motivates these people. Some of them betray an appalling level of racist attitudes. There must be a considerable psychological payoff in moral outrage. That seems to be their favourite pastime.
