Yep. I've been called a racist for saying that we *shouldn't* judge people by race. And for saying FGM is bad. And for saying Brett Weinstein was not being racist. And for saying intersectionality is divisive. And for existing with current levels of melanin. https://twitter.com/StewartCBova/status/928282991545274368 …

But I'm sure you can see how both ideas around language simplify a complicated reality of our world. Words need context and are a tool.

Pretending that every word means the same thing to everyone is the issue here. We can't pretend that we live in a fairy world.

So, where do we go now? We continue to fumble around because there's no solution or even a challenge of ideas.

Simple ideas but it's important to slow it down and do so, for the long term. So I'm not a fan of anyone who simplifies the complex.

We can have discussions. We need to know what we are discussing tho. This problem of term shift exists and if it continues to be applied to sexual crimes & misbehaviour, victims will lose credibility & men will face baseless witch-hunts.

Apparently 28% of young people think a wink is sexual harassment and a stare can be rape. http://www.titleixforall.com/goshen-college-declares-all-male-students-who-stare-at-women-are-rapists/ …
