There's a power differential there you are consistently failing to recognize. The LGBT community doesn't have full representation or equality, nor do non-whites, either socially or politically. There is no meritocracy here yet.

How is it a non-sequitur? White people hold most of the reins of power, most minorities lack said power, and so they have to band together in various intersections and identities to leverage their own power to obtain parity. Very similar to labor unions.
