People will block you if you pester them tediously or abusively and don't take a hint that they don't find you worth talking to.

You can't force people to find you thoughtful or interesting. You are not being censored if they opt out of hearing you.

Blocking someone on social is akin to not going to their public talk.It's when you decide not to hear that person but don't stop anyone else

Ppl who criticise banning, no-platforming, obstructive protests on campus etc do not criticise ppl who decide not to hear talk themselves.

We all censor in this way because we don't and can't be open to every kind of opinion on every topic ever. We must be selective.

Why is the Mute button not sufficient for your needs here? For the reasons I've seen described below, seems like it would be to me.

I block quite a lot now. I have persistent pests who simply aren't worth talking to but won't go away. Feel entitled to be heard.
