Women certainly do not have a responsibility to make the same choices as men in the same numbers. Men's choices are not the human standard.

I do worry that the obsession with getting more women into STEM amounts to pressuring women to be more like men. I’m a geek and I’d love my daughter to be, but she really isn’t - it’s entirely possible that she’ll be more fulfilled doing something else.

I'm not a geek - I'm a historian - but my daughter is one and will go into STEM. She already has so much gender-specific encouragement.
