But what if we are, on average? More neurotic, easier to intimidate, less willing to stand up for ourselves. I'm beginning to consider it.

Well, yes. Just like sexual dimorphism. Men are bigger & have more muscle, lower pain & more aggression coz needed to fight & hunt.
