If you hate a social group, it's safe to say you're prejudiced against them but if you are prejudiced against a group, may not hate them.

The prejudice itself is a problem, obviously, but it might not be the same as hate & mistaking it for that can impede tackling the problem.

eg, Men with sexist views abt women & women with sexist views abt men may not feel hate & telling them they do just makes them dismiss you.

I've had men tell me how much they love women & this is why they think they need protecting from making own decisions which they're bad at
