    Am now reading book on how to understand how statistics, graphs, averages etc can be manipulated to deceive. More interesting than I feared

        Oh, OK. I own "A Field Guide to Lies and Statistics" by the same author. The Huff book is a classic. Also, all of Edward Tufte's work.

        It Always bothered me how most students in the social sciences try to avoid it and barely pass 'because they don't like maths'.

        It's one of the reasons I crunch the numbers myself. The problem becomes that those posing the stats hide the raw data.
