My notes on The academic roots of post-truth society with @HPluckrose @JamesHeartfield @bobeaglestone http://bit.ly/2xvGt07 #BattleofIdeas

Yes fine they promote their agenda. It's just that they are not always transparent about it and they can be very intolerant of other views.
-
Well, I am not and James & Bob did not seem to be either & we had different views which we discussed amicably at this debate.
-
Cannot comment on the debate but when I visit @spikedonlineI all I see is intolerance and dismissal of anyone with opposing views.
-
Well, I haven't seen that. I've just seen you complaining that the debate was not about what you wanted it to be about.
-
My comments were addressed at the conference as a whole. This from a few years back gives my concerns:http://www.reasonandreality.org/?p=1710
-
I suggest not going if you don't like its approach. There are plenty of other left-wing or right-wing events. I value one which is neither.

Spiked: used to be (genocide denying) communists attacking society; stopped being communists but forgot to stop attacking=headless chickens.
-
Well, they seem to tolerate me OK despite my being left-wing remainer & invited you despite you seeming to loathe them. Could be worse.
-
My feelings towards them (distrust of their motives rather than loathing) is a function of reading their articles.
-
I find it easier to engage in arguments about specifics not generalities. For me, the Battle of Ideas hosts the most open debates I know of.
