Sets of ideas then. Systems of thought. And they should. My criticism is not of this. It's not admitting that's what they;re doing.

It's when they say 'Just don't ascribe to X belief system if you don't believe /like it!' but then criticise Y coz they don't believe/like

It appears inconsistent when you analyse it using your own classification of actions, but I'm sure it doesn't feel inconsistent to them.

Of course not. That's why I have to point out that it is. It's their own claim, not mine. 'If you don't like this ideology, leave it alone.'

But it really means 'I don't think you should criticise this ideology because I see different ones as more worthy of criticism'

It;s not my way. I am not the one saying that we shouldn't criticise sets of ideas if we don't like them.

I know I am. That is explicitly what I am doing. Disagreeing with their way of classifying actions. I said so quite clearly.

Ok. My point was that as long as they don't agree with your suggested classification, they can continue to live without contradictions.

But it's not my classification. It's theirs. If they qualify it to 'Don't criticise some ideas because...' inconsistency disappears.
