Sets of ideas then. Systems of thought. And they should. My criticism is not of this. It's not admitting that's what they;re doing.

There is no inconsistency if they say why it's ok to criticise politics but not religion, for example. Only if they say 'Don't criticise.'

That's fair. They still might disagree even after accepting that and find a way to adjust and find a new rationalizing classification.

They almost certainly will but the qualifications they make will lead us to the real point of disagreement & facilitate discussion.

If someone says to me 'You shldn't criticise religion because criticising other people's ideas is intolerant' but then criticise humanism.

I can point out that they're not really saying 'Don't criticise ideas.' but 'Don't criticise that one' & we can discuss why.
