I don't think so particularly. They (we) were polemical & had those who took it to arrogant arseholery but less so than a lot of groups.

There are certainly other groups you could say are worse, they had a larger, time weathered foundation. New Ath. not so much.

So many read Dawkins or Hitchens & then they become these arrogant know-it-alls, it becomes a deterrent for others w/ similar interests.

Well, that's fine. Not everyone who disbelieves in an ideology also dislikes it and also wants to criticise it. A lot is abt personality.
