He did. Just not in those words. My mother says 'Love you!' and my dad 'You're alright, I suppose' and me 'You're tolerable in small doses.'

TBF, we do this to some extent to annoy my excessively emotionally expressive mother. She says 'Kiss each other goodbye!' We shake hands
